This year-long collaborative course is composed of 3rd Year MFA students from the program in Dramatic Arts during the Fall Semester and expands in the Spring Semester to include MA and BFA students from the School of Media Studies, School of Jazz and Mannes programs. During the Fall Semester, 3rd Year MFA Drama students study the principles of film form, theory and practice through a series of lectures, discussions, hands-on seminars and practical exercises - including several short film projects. The Fall Semester serves as both an introduction to Cinema for Drama students and development period for the narrative short films produced during the Spring Semester with Media Studies. During the fall semester, MFA Drama students are invited to take on various roles as Directors, Writers, Actors, Cinematographers and Editors for these short films during the Fall Semester.

The short films are produced during the Spring Semester in collaboration with the School of Media Studies.
